Summer Emergency Preparedness Activities

Here are two public safety related summer activities you won’t want to miss!

Night Out, Tuesday August 6th: It's June, summer is around the corner and so is National Night Out, which falls on Tuesday, August 6th. Night Out is a national event promoted by Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in prevention efforts, and unite our communities. The Seattle Police Department’s Night Out Web page includes link to register your event, instructions on applying for street closures for non-arterial streets and downloadable signs and other materials in English and eight other languages. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with neighbors old and new.

Crime Solvers Youth Camp, July 22-26th: The Relational Policing Innovation Team at the Seattle Police Department, in partnership with the City of Seattle Attorney’s Office and Target, have announced the Crime Solvers Youth Camp this summer, July 22-26th! The aim is to educate and inform the campers about the criminal justice system from start to finish through a multitude of different topics and diverse presenters. Throughout the week of programming, campers will walk through an entire case, starting with CSI evidence gathering, teaching about witness/suspect interviewing, trial prep and a mock trial jury, alongside presentations on other safety topics and specialty units. This unique experience, tailored specifically for Seattle Public Middle School students, aspires to bridge an educational gap between students and the court system to explore a better understanding of our judicial system together! Here is the link to the application.
