Fort Lawton Redevelopment Update (Part 2)

The Seattle Office of Housing has released a second Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statementfor Fort Lawton.
The study evaluates three alternatives:
Updated Proposed Action: Up to 500 affordable homes at Fort Lawton, including supportive housing, rental apartments and homeownership opportunities, alongside almost 22 acres of park and open space.
Offsite Alternative: Affordable housing on a City owned site in North Seattle, with Fort Lawton developed as a passive park.
No Action: No redevelopment at this time. This does not guarantee that the property would remain unchanged permanently.
The study evaluates environmental impacts. It does not itself approve a project. The City's updated proposal remains focused on Fort Lawton, and inclusion of the offsite alternative does not mean housing will move there.
The public comment session was held in late August. A recording of the information session and public comment is available here. Written comment by email is the remaining way to participate before the deadline.
After the comment period closes, the Office of Housing will publish a Final SEIS. City Council action and the federal land transfer would follow. MCC will continue to share information as the process moves.
